This compoud was identified in 1992 – sulforaphane helps the body’s natural cancer-fighting ability as well as reduces the risk of developing cancer. These tiny sprouts as opposed to a mature head of broccoli contain 20-50 times the amount of chemoprotective compounds (which protect patients from the toxic effects of anticancer drugs).
Alfalfa Sprouts contain saponins, compounds which can bind to cholesterol and block its absorption. With respect to plaque, alfalfa has been studied for its ability to reduce plaque buildup on the insides of artery walls. Alfalfa also seems to have an ability to lower blood sugar levels.
